Fitness
facility directors: SFA is seeking to expand the internship program
and would like to hear from interested directors of quality older adult
fitness programs. SFA will be pleased to help facilities develop an
internship program that will provide maximum benefit for both the program
director and for the intern. SFA is initiating this internship program as
a service to SFA educated fitness professionals and does not charge the
program director or the participant a fee.

Washington Golf & CC Fitness Center*
Senior
Fitness Internship Program
Announcing
an exciting opportunity to
get "hands-on" older adult fitness experience and to earn SFA
approved continuing education credits all at no charge!

Jerry
Hart, M.S., SFA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator and Fitness
Director for Country Club Fitness, Inc., at the prestigious Washington
Golf & Country Club in Arlington, VA, will be accepting applications
to take part in a 30 to 50 hour senior fitness intern program. Mr. Hart
holds numerous fitness credentials (including three SFA certifications)
and has over 20 years' experience in the fitness field with a special
focus on mature populations. He will lead participants through a
structured training program that will include all aspects of successful
fitness center supervision and operation. As an intern you will learn to
conduct orientations, evaluations, testing, personal training and more.
Plus you will receive a special understanding of the lucrative country
club fitness environment.
The
Program
The intent of SFA and of Country Club Fitness (CCF) is to have the participant
put real effort into her/his program and produce an actual project or presentation or conduct supervised
personal training and group exercise classes. Past experience has shown
that trainers who go through a program with some rigor gain a greater depth of knowledge and self confidence.
Mr.
Hart also notes that an "obvious and terrific benefit" to CCF is
the potential
employment of outstanding interns at CCF clubs.
