Older adult Experience Corps volunteer tutors create a real win-win situation

A Johns Hopkins study showed that Experience Corps program volunteers who served as reading and math tutors for elementary school students made “improvements in cognitive functioning and … significant changes in brain activation patterns.” But here’s what’s even better: a Washington University in St. Louis study “found that students with Experience Corps tutors made over 60% more progress with reading comprehension … than comparable students not in the program.” Please click here for an Experience Corps press release and below for report from HealthDay.
