We picked the Genesis Mobile Stairlift to be our Editor’s Choice since it is an innovative, battery-powered mobile stairlift that does not require pre-installed tracks. This makes it ideal for daily use and impromptu excursions that require flexibility. The stairlift has a compact aluminum frame and weighs only 62 lbs. The Genesis also has a handle extension and you can easily fold it up for storage, which is great if travel a lot or if you’re simply short on space. The stairlift is also easy to maneuver since it supports 4” diameter front wheels and 5” diameter rear wheels. Plus, it has the latest technology track system which grips and glides along any stair surface providing a smoother ride for patients and reduces stress on the operator. In terms of safety, the Genesis Mobile Stairlift has enhanced safety features that include a padded grip, intuitive controls, top-rated safety belt, anti-slip rubber tracks, lower lift handles, dual wheel locks, and more. It also comes fully assembled and ready to go out of the box. The only downside is that while this stairlift is portable, you still need someone to operate it. The person needs to be fit enough to lean the user back and apply downward pressure while on the stairs.
The Genesis Mobile Stairlift is an upgrade to the LITE Mobile Stairlift from the same manufacturer. Notably, the LITE version is an impressive machine in its own right. It can go up and down 60 stairs on a single charge at 0.8 meters per second. It also has a smaller landing requirement of only 34”, so if you have a thinner staircase, it should be ideal. Other perks include the lightweight frame and easier storage. However, we picked the Genesis since the higher weight limit means you can carry equipment. It also offers more trips on a single charge.
