The Traingiver Lightweight Electric Wheelchair is a great electric option. You really can’t beat a 38-pound chair weight, 350-pound capacity, 500W power and 18+ mile travel range, which is impressively light for a powered wheelchair at this price point.
The main appeal is obvious: this chair gives users powered mobility without moving into the 60- to 100-pound weights associated with many traditional electric wheelchairs. It also folds for transport and is marketed as airline approved, making it potentially attractive for people who travel regularly.
What do we love it for?
The 38-pound weight is the headline feature. It is still substantially heavier than a manual travel chair, but by electric-wheelchair standards it is very light and much more realistic to load into a vehicle.
The claimed 350-pound capacity and 18+ mile range also give it impressive specifications for such a compact frame.
What could be better?
This is a very new product with only a limited ownership history compared with established mobility brands such as Drive, Medline or Karman. We are not saying it will fall apart, but the reliability over the long term is yet to be tested. While it didn’t run out of battery during the tests, the claimed range of 18 miles is a big ask of such a small chair and hence, we would be skeptical that this is marketing hype and not a real world test result.
