The Helavo Extra-Wide Bariatric Upright Walker is the clear heavy-duty choice in this lineup because it is designed around a genuine 500-pound capacity, rather than simply adding a few pounds to a standard rollator rating. The seat is approximately 20.1 inches wide, giving larger users significantly more room than the narrow 12–17-inch seats common on standard rollators. The frame itself is around 28.3 inches wide and uses 8-inch flat-free rubber wheels.
It also uses an upright design with padded forearm supports, which can be useful for users who find it uncomfortable to place significant weight through their hands and wrists.
What we liked
The extra width immediately makes more sense for a bariatric user than trying to reinforce a normal-size walker. The seat actually provides useful room, the frame feels proportioned for higher loads, and the 500-pound capacity gives much more margin than the 250–350-pound ratings typical of ordinary rollators.
We also like the combination of bariatric capacity with upright forearm support. It means this isn’t simply a wider conventional walker; it addresses posture and pressure distribution as well. Helavo’s customer-service reputation is another positive and in our own dealings with them, they have been great for warrant support when needed.
What could be better
The width is both its strength and its biggest weakness. At around 28.3 inches, you need to measure doorways carefully. This is not a walker we’d order without first checking the narrowest doorway, bathroom entrance and hallway in the home. It is also bulkier to fold and transport than a standard rollator, even though the aluminum construction keeps weight lower than an equivalent steel bariatric frame.
Finally, larger users should pay particular attention to seat width rather than looking only at the 500-pound rating. Capacity alone does not guarantee comfortable fit and for some of our test subjects, this was certainly the case.
